The classic Lisbon day, paced for guests who want to see the coast properly rather than tick through it. We start before the Sintra coaches arrive, lunch in a Cascais courtyard, walk Cabo da Roca with the wind at the right strength, and return through the small villages of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. Lunch and entries are not included; the driver coordinates reservations on request.
We start in Porto before the bridge tours load up, walk a short Ribeira loop, and visit one Gaia cellar (your choice; we have a shortlist of small-house operations). Then up the river to a single vineyard for a tasting and a long lunch at a producer's table. The drive back closes the day at the right hour for the estuary light.
Eight hours, a Madrid morning of Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace exterior, lunch in the city, and the seventy-minute drive south to Toledo. Toledo is best in the late afternoon when the day-trip buses are gone — and that is when we arrive. Return to Madrid for evening.
What we mean by "curated": fewer stops, more time at each.
Paris in the morning is for the Île Saint-Louis, the Marais, and a coffee on a quiet square. We then drive the thirty-five minutes to Versailles for the afternoon — the gardens, the palace exterior, and an interior visit if you have a ticket. Skip-the-line entries arranged on request.
Rome cannot be done in a day, but it can be done well in nine hours. Vatican exterior in the morning when the light is on St Peter's, walk into Trastevere for an unhurried lunch, and finish on the Aventine for the keyhole-to-the-Vatican view at sunset. Inside-Vatican access on a separate ticket — we'll handle the queue logistics if you want it.
We start with a slow Gothic Quarter morning when the streets are still damp from being washed, lunch in a small Eixample restaurant, and drive an hour northwest to the Montserrat massif for the afternoon. The Montserrat monastery and the funicular up to the summit are arranged on request.
Eleven hours into the Alentejo. We leave Lisbon when the morning light is still long, into Évora for the bone-chapel and the Roman temple before the day-trippers arrive, then onto a quinta for lunch and a slow afternoon through cork-oak country before the drive back. Best done as a single long day rather than split.
Sintra exterior viewpoints + Cascais marina lunch — softer than the full coast day. The Pena exterior in the morning when the colour is its own light, a stop at Cabo da Roca for the headland air, then down into Cascais for an unhurried lunch by the boats. Inside-Pena tickets handled separately if you want them.
